The Secrets of Flyarystan

The year 2019 has been a significant one for Kazakhstani aviation, as it has seen the arrival of Flyarystan, the country’s first low-cost airline. While passengers are already appreciating the true value of the new airline, Flyarystan is still responding to questions that are flooding in on a daily basis, mostly on subjects such as prices, services, and baggage. We will try to answer the ones that concern people the most.

How do I buy a ticket at the lowest price?

You should try and buy your tickets in advance, as the earlier you can buy them the cheaper they should be. Ticket prices are not fixed but change constantly to reflect the demand for particular flights. Departure times and weekday travel can affect ticket prices, as can popular events being held around the time you wish to fly.

For example, on 29 March 2019, Flyarystan started selling tickets for flights operating from 1 May to 26 October. A month before the first flight, 70% of the tickets for all flights in May, and 30% of those in June, had already been bought. The fastest-selling tickets were for flights around the weekends and holidays. Passengers who did not buy tickets in advance, or bought them the day before the flight, could find their tickets costing the same as those from regular airlines.

When demand is high and there are fewer seats available, then the price goes up. This is why we recommend that you plan your trip in advance, as that way you will have the opportunity to buy your ticket at the lowest price available.

We strongly encourage you to read the Fare Rules, as when you buy a ticket it is a transportation agreement between the airline and the passenger. All this information is available at our official website flyarystan.com in the Information and Help section, under Fare Types.

Please pay special attention to our returns policy in order to avoid any misunderstanding should your plans change. For example, there are some fare rules allowing a refund in the form of an e-voucher that you can only use to purchase your next ticket. More information about these vouchers is available at flyarystan.com in the Information and Help section, under Flyarystan Voucher.

Flyarystan follows a classic lowcost airline model, which means that the ticket you buy guarantees you a seat and up to 5 kg of hand luggage. However, if you have more luggage and/or you wish to select a certain row or seat, you will have to pay extra for these services. There is a ready solution provided in the form of fare bundles, called Standard Plus, Comfort and Comfort Plus, that already include the cost of these extra services. More information is available at flyarystan. com in the Information and Help section, under Fare Bundles.

Passengers often ask if we have sales. The answer is yes. The first sale took place at the end of September, when Flyarystan released fares for

KZT 999. It took less than a day to sell all 3,000 tickets available at this price, so we decided to hold another sale the next day for a further 999 tickets with the same price and destination: Pavlodar – Nur-sultan. It is difficult for us to say how often we will have sales, but as they are common practice with low-cost airlines around the world we will also offer them.

How can I keep my baggage costs down?

The best way to pay for baggage is through an appropriate fare bundle, or alternatively you can buy it separately on our website after you have bought your ticket. Please bear in mind that paying for extra baggage at the airport will be five times more expensive than buying it at flyarystan.com.

The cost of baggage and seat selection depends on your route. We offer three fare types: short-haul flights of up to 1.5 hours, medium-haul flights from 1.5 to

2.5 hours, and long-haul flights taking more than 2.5 hours. All information about our baggage prices can be found at flyarystan.com in the Information and Help section under Services and Fees.

Self-service is best

The low-cost airline model allows passengers to save money by using self-service. For example, if you pay for an extra bag on the website, instead of at the airport, you will save a lot, and we don’t mean only money. You will also save a lot of time.

We strongly encourage you to check in online, which allows you to avoid long queues by going straight to boarding if you only have hand baggage, or to the special counter if you have baggage you need to check in.

We kindly ask passengers with children, pregnant women, and those who need assistance or special services, to arrive at the airport two hours before the flight so they have enough time for all the required checkin procedures. Passengers who arrive at the airport at the last moment may miss their flights.

Are all in-flight services feebased?

As of today, we have only one feebased in-flight service, which is the meal that can be ordered either on the flight or in advance by selecting and paying for it on the Flyarystan website.

Prices for in-flight meals are reasonable, as a chicken or cheese sandwich with a beverage costs KZT 1,200, and a salad and beverage costs KZT 1,400. Tea, coffee, or a glass of juice will each cost KZT 300.
