AIR ASTANA’S LIABILITY FOR CHECKED BAGGAGE
If your baggage is damaged, lost or delayed, the airline’s liability is limited to the provisions of the Warsaw Convention (supplemented by the Hague Protocol) or Montreal Convention. If you define the contents of your baggage as valuable, then the airline recommends that you insure it.
Air Astana, like most major airlines, assumes no liability for damage to checked baggage such as broken wheels, lost straps or fastenings, damage to baggage handles and minor damage such as scratches, scuffing, stains, dents, cuts and dirt resulting from normal wear and tear.
TRANSPORTATION OF FRAGILE AND VALUABLE ARTICLES
Please bear in mind that Air Astana assumes no liability for fragile, valuable or perishable articles.
Broken glass containers and liquid spills inside a suitcase are generally not the responsibility of the airline, so care should be taken by passengers when packing baggage for a journey by air.
Due to safety measures, money, documents, jewellery, items made of precious stones and metals, cameras, video cameras, laptop computers, mobile phones, personal medicines and keys cannot be transported as checked baggage and should be carried with the passenger on the aircraft.
BAGGAGE PACKING GUIDELINES
To avoid claims connected with damaged baggage and theft, we would like to recommend our passengers use baggage with codes and padlocks. If you use soft baggage, please secure your baggage with fastening or cords or cover your baggage in plastic film.
