SUDAN TO ASK WORLD BANK FOR $2 BILLION IN FINANCIAL SUPPORT
THE GOVERNMENT of Sudan is hoping to secure $2 billion of financial assistance from the World Bank when its Prime Minister visits the organisation in New York.
Abdalla Hamdok, the nation’s 15th prime minister appointed in August 2019, is visiting the United States and also hopes to secure further funding for three Sudanese experts to work in the country during its political transition process.
Sudan is one of the larger and most geographically diverse states in Africa, split in two following a vote for independence in the south in 2011.
The new administration is set to announce a nine-month economic rescue plan in October.
