Shell to start new Egypt operations in H2 2020
ROYAL DUTCH Shell has said it will begin operating at its new concessions in Egypt during the second half of 2022.
The oil and gas major won three oil and two gas concessions in February, joining the likes of Eni, BP and ExxonMobil in Egypt’s bid to take advantage of major discoveries.
According to Reuters, Shell is also interested in drilling in the Red Sea, the company applying to take part in the bidding round and further declaring interest in activities in the Mediterranean.
Interest in Egypt sparked in 2015 when Eni discovered gas reserves thought to be around 30 trillion cubic feet in the Zohr field.
