Uber pilots boat service in Lagos
RIDE-HAILING GIANT Uber has began testing a new boat-based service in Lagos.
The service, named UberBOAT, is being managed in conjunction with local boat operator Texas Connection Ferries and the Lagos State Waterways Authority.
Lagos is built on a massive lagoon, and it is thought that boat travel could be a viable means of cutting road congestion, a problem the city has become notorious for and one which is thought to cost it more than $30 million a month.
The United Nations also predicts that Nigeria’s population will surpass 400 million by 2050.
