PARTIES TO FINALISE MULTIBILLION-DOLLAR LNG PROJECT IN MOZAMBIQUE
FRANCE’S TOTAL and its partners Gigajoule and Matola Gas Company (MCG) will be taking a final investment decision on a $3.15 billion LNG project near Maputo, Mozambique.
The project consists of floating storage and regasification unit moored in the harbour at Matola, a suburb of Matola. It will be connected to a nearby gas-fired power plant and South Africa’s gas network – the gas will be supplied by Total.
“The availability of a new source of much needed natural gas and power will fuel the economic growth in Mozambique and the southern African region,” the three partners said in a joint statement.
