QATAR AIRWAYS TAKES 60 PERCENT STAKE IN NEW RWANDAN AIRPORT

-

QATAR AIRWAYS is primed to take a 60 percent stake in a new $1.3 billion international airport being built in Rwanda.

The airport is being built in the Bugesera district, approximately 25 kilometres from the capital, Kigali. A first phase of construction would provide facilities for seven million passengers a year. The second phase, which has an expected completion date of 2032, would double capacity to service 14 million passengers.

These plans are a modification of those drawn up in 2017 for a smaller airport in the same location, with a capacity of 4.5 million passengers.
