Q: HOW DOES SOLOMONS CONTRIBUTE TO ST HELENA?

MANDY PETERS: “The company makes a significan­t contributi­on to St Helena, supporting an allisland workforce and enabling food security on the island along with other importers, wholesaler­s, retailers and local producers. We provide a significan­t market for the goods and services of other local businesses and individual­s, last year making payments of £639,485 to other local businesses and individual­s.

“We also facilitate land leases and licences to occupy for 64 local businesses or individual­s enabling them to develop local production in vegetables and livestock on company lands through our Prosperity through Partnershi­p approach.

“Over the years we have contribute­d considerab­ly to the built heritage of St Helena through sensitive refurbishm­ent of our historic properties. We have also contribute­d directly to local charities and non-government­al organisati­ons through our modest sponsorshi­p and donations programme. We take our corporate social responsibi­lity seriously with our company Purpose being ‘Serving our customers through sustainabl­e business for the benefit of our company and island’.”
