Rebuilding Africa

- Sean Galea-Pace Editor, Outlook Publishing

It is a pleasure to warmly welcome you to the 89th edition of Africa Outlook magazine!

And what an issue we have in store. On the cover sits LafargeHolcim Côte d’Ivoire, a subsidiary of the LafargeHolcim Group, a global leader in construction materials.

The organisation is a worldwide provider of a multitude of construction materials including cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete and a variety of building solutions. “Over the years, we have developed a wide range of products to offer an efficient solution to main cement applications,” says Xavier Saint-Martin-Tillet, Head of West Africa Cluster.

“We believe that we must contribute to the improvement of the construction industry by offering products with a positive impact on quality and productivity.”

Next up, we have GoodWe — a world-leading photovoltaic (PV) inverter and energy storage solutions manufacturer, which is the focus of our next feature. In it, we speak with Andrew Tyler, Sales and Business Development Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa at GoodWe, to explore the company’s localised approach. “It is an extremely exciting time to be working in the solar industry, especially in Africa,” says Tyler. “We have recently reached the point where solar power is cheaper to produce than traditional forms of power, this is known as grid-parity.”

Elsewhere in the magazine, we interview Stephane Lopez, General Manager of NAS Airport Services, to learn more about how the organisation has transitioned to provide catering services to a variety of individuals and institutions that need it most during COVID-19.

Don’t miss our feature with Siemens South Africa where we examine the company’s pandemic-accelerated drive for digital applications. Meanwhile, make sure you read our showcase of Enlit Africa 2021 to explore how it is digitally bringing the power and energy community together.

And before you go, check out our in-depth company profiles with Adrian Kenya, ARC Power, ELB Equipment, Durr Africa, Habesha Breweries, Quattro Zambia and many more!

Enjoy the issue!
