TANZANIA TESTING STANDARD GAUGE RAILWAY SYSTEM
THE WHEELS are in motion to begin testing for the completed 300 kilometre stretch of Tanzania Railways Corporation’s standard gauge railway electric system, running between Dar es Salaam and Morogoro. This comes after $30 million has been invested by the Tanzanian government to build the necessary power infrastructure to complete this first phase. The tests will take place over three months and will be run by four substations. The test will be divided into two stages; the unit and the component test, to ensure that the system is properly installed and has a reliable connection to the national grid.
