PROMISING DEVELOPMENTS FOR DIABETES PATIENTS IN REMOTE SETTINGS
A HEALTHCARE team composed of employees from Doctors Without Borders and the University of Geneva have successfully demonstrated that an insulin cartridge can be stored for four weeks at 37°C without compromising its effectiveness. In regions such as sub-Saharan Africa, where many diabetics are forced to travel to a clinic for daily injections if they do not have a refrigerator at home, it is a breakthrough development.
The insulin storage tests were conducted under temperatures between 25-37°C over four weeks, in an attempt to mimic real conditions.
