AT A GLANCE: ADRIAN KENYA’S CSR PRACTICES
Adrian hosts a number of initiatives and is a member of bodies that champion environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices and sustainable development goals (SDGs).
• Being a Responsible Corporate Citizen – It is a member of the UN Global Compact and signatory to the ‘Business Leaders for Renewed Global Cooperation’.
• Champion sustainable energy - The first company in East Africa to adapt solar energy to power BTS sites. 150 BTS stations currently run entirely on solar.
• Mwanafunzi Adopt a Tree – Mwanafunzi is the Swahili word for student. Adrian has renovated schools and planted trees together with students, who then look after the trees, thus building awareness and respect for the environment. The programme has been a great success, having planted over 3,000 trees in our surrounding and our goal is to plant more than 25,000 trees by 2023.
• Adrian Tech Ambassador Programme - Tech Ambassador Programme for young women graduates takes them through training in leadership, sales and marketing. In 2019, 15 out of 20 women who went through this training, joined as full-time employees.
• Women in Business – Adrian supports female-owned businesses in the region where it provides mentorship to women who are starting their journeys into the tech and telecommunication industry.
