Access World Logistics Namibia has been providing port terminal and vessel loading services to Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation (RPZC) since 2013 in respect of their bulk Zinc and Lead concentrate export requirements.

RPZC had initiated a project to explore the feasibility of utilising the smaller and closer Port of Luderitz, as an alternative to Walvis Bay Port. This was seen as a more cost effective, however, challenging export solution. The Port of Luderitz accommodates a large fishing industry and experiences frequent high winds.

An effective and approved Environmental Management Programme would be required to minimise the potential impacts of storing and loading bulk Zinc and Lead concentrates, on other Port users and the environment.

Access World designed a bulk ship loading system for RPZC which would ensure minimal dust generation whilst meeting required ship loading productivity targets.

The proposed solution was favourably considered by RPZC and a contract was awarded to Access World to operate and manage the RPZC port storage facility in Luderitz and to load their bulk export vessels.

Access World is proud to have been able to provide an effective service for RPZC, having successfully loaded in excess of 800 000 tons of concentrates at Luderitz. This has resulted in job creation and investment in the region and Access World wishes RPZC every success with their forthcoming RP2.0 expansion project, which will result in significant growth of their export business.
