Africa Outlook: With sustainability in mind, can you talk me through your CSR strategy?
Tertius Cilliers, CEO: “Since 2019, Synercore has implemented various skills development and social entrepreneurship initiatives as a way of developing sustainable solutions to the problem of nutrition, upskill internal employees, as well as support women-led food innovation projects of South Africa.
“Our main beneficiary, Shiloh Synergy based in Brackenfell, Western Cape, produces on average 50,000 meals per month that are distributed to disadvantaged communities. We are extremely proud of our association with Estelle Veldman and her brilliant team on the noble and inspiring service to disadvantaged communities through their respective food, schooling and relief programmes. Synercore helps develop and train Shiloh staff, donate food and ingredients, sponsor new kitchen equipment, supply balanced recipes and nutritional advice, as well as collect donations to give to Shiloh recipients. We believe a responsible corporate citizen should not be something you have to do; it is something you want to do.”
