Kenya bags four major international golfing awards
Kenya, last weekend bagged four major golfing honours during the annual World Golf Awards ceremony at La Manga Spain, establishing itself firmly as a golf tourism destination on the world map.
The Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort in Naivasha won two prizes, the Best Golf Hotel in Africa and that of being the Best Golf Hotel in Kenya.
The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) certified Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi County was meanwhile chosen as the Best Golf Course for the Year 2017.
Tobs Kenya Golf Safaris, a travel and events firm in the country, won the Best Golf Tour Operator award for the third time in a row.
Speaking about the awards, Tobs Kenya Golf Safaris chairman and a former director of Muthaiga Golf Club, Tobs Cohen, said he was excited about Kenya winning four awards.
He said: “Since we started our operations in 1991, our objective has always been to promote Kenya as a world class golf destination.
“This Award is an encouragement to continue in our quest to grow Kenya’s potential to attract many golfing tourists.” Cohen said East Africa continued to grow as a golf tourism destination with several new 18-hole championship golf courses opening.
