MP gives Chinese min­ing firms until noon on May 24 to leave

Trou­ble is brew­ing in Ny­atike Con­stituency af­ter MP Tom Odege gave Chinese min­ing com­pa­nies until May 24 to leave the area.

Ten­sion has been rising in the area fol­low­ing the ar­rival of the Chinese, whom Mr Odege said have col­luded with come county gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials to get li­cences. Speak­ing in Ma­calder town on Wed­nes­day dur­ing a funds drive in aid of six min­ers who died in a mine ac­ci­dent last week, the leg­is­la­tor said he would lead the res­i­dents in evict­ing the Chinese if they are still around af­ter 12 noon on May 24.
