Waititu dissolves milk firm board
Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has dissolved the management of Gatundu South Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society and ordered fresh elections following claims of embezzlement of funds.
He gave the directive during the launch of the revamped society's dairy plant in Kiganjo after farmers shared their dissatisfaction with the manner in which their committee had been managing their affairs.
The farmers decried mismanagement of the firm, saying they had been selling milk through brokers due to delayed payments.
They accused the management of obtaining a Sh7.5 million loan without the approval of members, adding that the money was misused.
Mr Waititu ordered the current and former society officials to record statements with police on how the loan was acquired and spent.
