Ny­ong’o air­lifted to city hos­pi­tal


Kisumu Gover­nor, Prof Anyang' Ny­ong'o was yes­ter­day flown to Nairobi for spe­cialised treat­ment after be­ing di­ag­nosed with low blood pres­sure.

Gover­nor Ny­ong'o was driven in an am­bu­lance to the Kisumu In­ter­na­tional Air­port and flown to Nairobi by the AMREF Fly­ing Doc­tors Ser­vices.

Aga Khan Hos­pi­tal med­i­cal su­per­in­ten­dent, Dr Sam Oula, said the gover­nor was taken to Aga Khan Hos­pi­tal in Nairobi.

“The gover­nor has been flown to Nairobi for con­clu­sive tests and for fur­ther ob­ser­va­tions. (He was) in the hos­pi­tal overnight in stable con­di­tion” Dr Oula told

Prof Ny­ong'o fell ill dur­ing a func­tion to in­stall new Catholic Arch­bishop Philip Any­olo Arch­bishop who took over from Zac­cha­eus Okoth dur­ing a func­tion held at Uz­ima Univer­sity ground in Kisumu on Satur­day.

He was rushed from the event to Kisumu's Aga Khan Hos­pi­tal after re­port­edly pass­ing out. A com­mu­niqué dis­patched by his press sec­re­tary Aloice Ager stated that, dur­ing the Satur­day event in Kisumu, “the Gover­nor un­for­tu­nately en­coun­tered some dis­com­fort and ex­cused him­self to see a doc­tor.”
