Zim goes to the polls on July 30 to pick pres­i­dent, members of par­lia­ment

ZIM­BABWE: July 30 is Zim­babwe’s elec­tion date, in the coun­try’s first elec­toral test since the ouster of its long-serv­ing Pres­i­dent Robert Mu­gabe in Novem­ber 2017.

Through the of­fi­cial Zim­babwe Gov­ern­ment Gazette, Pres­i­dent Em­mer­son Mnan­gagwa un­veiled date for the elec­tions which he promised will be free and fair with in­ter­na­tional mon­i­tor­ing.

Pres­i­dent Mnan­gagwa will run against op­po­si­tion Move­ment for Demo­cratic Change (MDC) party, now led by 40-year-old Nel­son Chamisa fol­low­ing the death of Morgan Ts­van­gi­rai in Fe­bru­ary.
