One killed, several injured as police break up clashes between OLF, govt supporters
ETHIOPIA: Police were forced to fire teargas to break up a confrontation between locals and supporters of the Oromo Liberation Front over Ethiopian and OLF flags.
Residents accused OLF of replacing the Ethiopian flag with their colours and flag.
According to media reports, one person died in the confrontation, leading the police to seal off Addis Ababa’s commercial centre.
The OLF was previously described as a terrorist organisation but that designation has been dropped by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Mr Abiy, who became prime minister in April, is the country’s first Oromo leader in recent years.
