GDC and workers’ union start talks on salaries review
The Geothermal Development Company has started negotiating a collective bargaining agreement with its workers with a view of reviewing their salaries.
The Kenya Electrical Trade and Allied Workers’ Union and the GDC management met in a Naivasha hotel ahead of the formal negotiations on Saturday. Geothermal union branch secretary Michael Opiyo said they look forward to a progressive CBA.
In a press statement released after the talks, Opiyo said this is the first CBA the workers would be entering into with the company.
Union secretary general Earnest Nadome praised the GDC management for demonstrating leadership in the matter. He said once signed, the CBA would boost the morale of the staff.
The GDC management promised to support the negotiations, saying no effort would be spared in ensuring the CBA is completed and implemented.
