Sam­buru picks ath­letes dur­ing Camel Derby

The Sam­buru gov­ern­ment has taken ad­van­tage of the 28th In­ter­na­tional Camel Derby to pick tal­ented youths who will rep­re­sent the county in na­tional and in­ter­na­tional athletics com­pe­ti­tions.

The derby started on Thurs­day and ended yes­ter­day.

Sam­buru County Di­rec­tor of Sports Mathew Le­siyampe yes­ter­day said the county has a short­age of tal­ented youths who can par­tic­i­pate in athletics com­pe­ti­tions.

He said the gov­ern­ment is spon­sor­ing six ath­letes from the county in Iten in prepa­ra­tions for the in­ter-county athletics com­pe­ti­tion.

Le­siyampe said an athletics train­ing ground has been set up in Loosuk, Sam­buru Cen­tral sub­county.
