Forgive IEBC and let’s elect Raila – Zuleikha
NASA leaders want Chebukati and Chiloba prosecuted over election malpractices
Kwale woman representative Zuleikha Juma has asked Kenyans to forgive the IEBC officials over irregularities cited during the hearing of the presidential poll petition.
She asked Kenyans to turn a new leaf and elect NASA leader Raila Odinga.
On Friday after the Supreme Court delivered a ruling nullifying the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta, top NASA leaders said they will not allow the current IEBC commissioners to oversee the repeat presidential election.
They said those who conspired with “criminals and took over the electoral commission” must face criminal charges. The court ordered a rerun of the presidential election in 60 days.
NASA leaders also want IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and CEO Ezra Chiloba prosecuted over election malpractices.
But Juma said although Chebukati and his team committed a crime, there is need to forgive them.
“Let us forgive them, turn a new page and vote for Raila Odinga as our fifth President,” she said.
Juma joined NASA supporters in celebrating the court ruling in Matuga and Msambweni constituencies.
She said it is clear Kenyans overwhelmingly voted for Raila.
“Let us go out and campaign ahead of the election to ensure Raila wins,” Juma said.
She was accompanied by former Matuga MP and Kwale ODM chairman Hassan Mwanyoha.
