Winners of 48th Modern Korean Literature Translation Awards
The Korea Times is delighted to announce the winners of the 48th Modern Korean Literature Translation Awards.
The Grand Prize winner in fiction is Sarah Lyo for her translation of novelist Park Sol-moe’s “Then What Do We Sing.” The Grand Prize winner in poetry is Charse Yun for his translation of 10 poems by Ham Min-bok, including “Solace.”
The Commendation Award in fiction goes to the team of Olan Munson and Oh Eun-kyung for their translation of Choi Eun-young’s “Xin chao, Xin chao.” No person has been awarded the Commendation Award in poetry this year.
We congratulate all participants and winners and hope for a greater number of entries next year as Korean literature needs more skilled translators to reach global audiences. The contest was sponsored by KB Financial Group.
