VR, AR new trend in gaming industry
Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies are sparking new trends in Korea’s gaming market, industry watchers said Tuesday, with local developers utilizing them in new titles.
Netmarble Games plans to unveil “Fishing Strike” this month, which is a mobile-based title that provides users with an immersive fishing experience using AR and VR technologies.
Users can not only catch 500 different kinds of fish in various places, but can view the fish caught in a virtual aquarium.
Another Korean developer, Smilegate, showcased three new titles utilizing VR technology last month, including “Project Y,” where users can take part in a dating simulation.
Other smaller developers are rushing to apply AR technology in their contents, after Apple and Google opened their development tools last year.
