The Latin dance show “Dancing with your Soul” is coming to Korea on Saturday, April 28, produced by Seoul-based Colombian dancer and producer Jhonatan Jimenez.

Jimenez initially directed and produced “Dancing with your Soul” eight years ago in Colombia and then decided to take it to Los Angeles in 2013, where it was a huge success.

He told The Korea Times he came here to “spread the beauty of Latin dance,” which he continues to do at his dance school, Jhonatan Dance Company (JDC).

The show will be held at Maru Hall of Yongin Culture Foundation from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Audiences will be able to get a taste of a variety of different dance styles including salsa, bachata, rumba caliente, hip-hop, tango, bellydancing and samba, which will be performed on stage with the voice of famous Korean Latin singer Im Byung-soo.

Dancers from JDC and other pro- fessional dancers will share their “life-changing” stories they have experienced through dance, from love stories to unexpected dreams coming true. Jimenez didn’t want to give away too much but hopes the stories will “give the guests inspira- tion and hope to achieve their dreams.”

The aim of “Dancing with your Soul” is to show what the power of self-expression and dance can do for people.

“The main purpose of Dancing with your Soul is to show that each person, even the amateurs without any dance experience, can become shining stars on stage,” Jimenez said.

“We want to listen to your story. What is your motivation? We are here to support you and show the world anything is possible. Just believe in yourself.”

Through dancing and art, JDC strives to help people challenge themselves, fulfill their dreams and find health and happiness.

Jimenez believes love and trust are the ultimate tools for success in both dance and life.

“A positive mind attracts positive things, so everybody can shine on stage,” he said.

Miss Korea 2013 Han Ji-eun, and Cho Jae-hoon, the founder of the Stella Foundation — an NGO creating awareness of depression in South Korea and its prevention — will host the evening. A red carpet, champagne, and wine will complete the experience.
