Conflicting information

- From Brazil. By Richard Ruffin The writer (rick.ruffin@gmail.com) writes

I have a smartphone. It was made by Huawei, the third largest cellphone maker in the world. The company — or somebody — sends a lot of conflicting information to my phone which receives a lot of conflicting information. A ton of it, in fact.

I live in Brazil. No repair person in their right mind will go near the bloody thing. Huawei has some offices here in Curitiba, the city in which I live. Their offices are full of conflicting information. I went there about half a year ago. I was having some problems with my phone (it kept sending me conflicting information). I was sent on a wild goose chase, after my phone warranted a second look from a guy who had on nice clothes. The place he sent me was not what he said it was. First of all, it did not have the name that he told me. Secondly, it did not repair Huawei phones.

Thirdly, it had never even heard of Huawei. Huawei, Huawei. No wonder no one in their right mind will go near a Huawei phone. And Huawei even has an office in Curitiba, if you can call it that. The thing that amazes me is how often, and how quickly, the information on the home screen changes. I have no idea how to find anything, as everything constantly changes.

Which brings me to something. My brother, who lives in California, has a Huawei phone, and Trump is about to sign an executive order banning Huawei phones from the U.S. I will ask my brother about this, but my money has it that he is not concerned with the matter. Conflicting information? You bet.

A few days ago I got this message from WhatsApp telling me that because I had registered my phone with a different number, or perhaps because I had registered my number with a different phone, or perhaps because I had bought my phone in China (I cannot remember the details as my mind is spinning from conflicting information), they could not accept my current number and would be erasing it. But last I checked I still had that number, and it was still working.

Conflicting information. You bet. But maybe I should wait a bit longer.
