SK Group’s SUPEX decision-making council has decided to appoint four new chief executives of its affiliates including chipmaker SK hynix, the conglomerate said

Thursday.

According to the group,

SK hynix

Chief Operating Officer Lee Seok-hee will lead the company as its new CEO.

The other three new leaders include SK E&C CEO Ahn Jae-hyun, SK gas CEO Yoon Byung-suk and SK global chemical CEO Na Kyung-soo.

SK Group said it promoted the executives in their early 50s to accelerate innovation and a shift in generation.

“Despite the record-high earnings this year, we decided not to promote a large number of executives, considering the economic outlook,” an SK Group official said.

“We’ve sped up fostering future leaders with earlier appointments of talented executives.”

The new SK hynix CEO has been known for his expertise in semiconductors, so SK Group said it regarded him as the right man for the company’s sustainable competitiveness.

The new SK E&C CEO and the new SK global chemical CEO, both of which have built up their careers at SK affiliates, are expected to focus on global expansions.

Also, the new SK gas CEO is tasked with maintaining the company’s leadership in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market and look for new business opportunities, based on his diverse experience in the fields of gas and power generation.

“The recent performance-based reshuffle features personnel with expertise to lead the group’s deep change and business model innovation,” the group official said.

“Despite the uncertainty in our business environment next year, we will improve our corporate value with continuous innovation and growth. Also, we will create social value for more happiness in our society.”
