Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes set off on his Asian tour for his latest self-titled album in Korea, Thursday. His first show was at KSPO dome with 15,000 capacity, located in Olympic Park, Seoul.

Thousands of fans filled the site and screamed in excitement as Mendes appeared in a ripped jean jacket and black jeans with his signature acoustic guitar.

He began the show with three of the songs from his latest album starting with “Lost in Japan,” for which he changed Japan to Seoul, before greeting and expressing appreciation to fans for coming to his first concert in Korea.

The 21-year-old hitmaker showed off his energy on stage as he sang his biggest hits like “Stitches” and “Treat You Better,” jumping and running around the stage drawing hearts and blowing kisses to his fans.

The singer fueled the excitement by bringing audiences together, encouraging them to follow his lead by clapping and thumping. Thousands of fans immersed themselves in the vibrant concert as they sang along with his hit songs.

Yet, he still managed to show off his sweet melodious vocals that cover high notes through serenading “Mercy,” sitting on the edge of the stage closer to the fans.

Mendes filled a 100-minute-long concert with complete solo performances, barely taking any breaks between the songs. The singer took the full lead of 21 songs including the featured songs “Like To Be You” by Julia Michaels and “Senorita” by Camila Cabello.

Standing on a round stage surrounded by fans, he shared his description of the word “Youth,” in introducing his song of the same name.

“When I say youth I’m not talking about how old you are. I think of it as a word that describes feeling — feeling of freedom and happiness.”

“It’s up to us to stand up and say that no matter what happens, our youth cannot be taken away from us,” he said as he began singing an acoustic version of the song.

He didn’t forget to sing his debut single “Life of the Party” which shot him to fame back in his days of posting song covers on the Vine video-sharing app. The single made him one of the youngest artists to land on Billboard’s top 25 chart with a debut song in 2014.
