Turtle Marathon on Saturday
The 486th Turtle Marathon hosted by the Hankook Ilbo, the sister paper of The Korea Times, will be held this Saturday on Mount Nam in Seoul. This time, companion animals will be joining the walkathon.
The five-kilometer-long event will begin at Baekbeom Plaza at 9 a.m.
Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon will come with his own dog and will launch an advocacy campaign for animal rights at the site.
Those who complete in the race with their pets will receive a certificate and a CPR kit for animals, animal water bowl and a free coupon to enter a pet park in eastern Seoul.
The organizers will provide participants with free drinks during the race and give away air purifiers, running shoes and seaweed packs through a lucky draw.
Reservations for pets have been completed, but room is still open for those who would like to participate without pets. RSVPing is not mandatory but necessary to win prizes.
Grade school students can receive certification for three hours of volunteer work if they register on 1365.go.kr and sign themselves in at the marathon basecamp.
The event is organized by Dongrami and the Korean Animal Hospital Association, and sponsors include Samhwa Paints, amio, Dongwon F&B, Haemaru, Bowraum, Nongshim, Kiwi Media Group, Sun &Moon, Body Logic, The Myungjang Mall and Namsan Cable Car.
