Ve­gan Fes­ti­val to be held in Seoul over week­end

The Seoul Metropoli­tan Gov­ern­ment will launch its 7th Ve­gan Fes­ti­val over the week­end to pro­mote and show a glimpse of the ve­gan life­style.

The fes­ti­val will be held on Satur­day and Sun­day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Oil Tank Cul­ture Park near World Cup Sta­dium Sta­tion.

The slo­gan of the fes­ti­val is “World Ve­gan, World Peace.”

Ve­g­ans are sim­i­lar to veg­e­tar­i­ans as they both avoid meat and fish, but ve­g­ans ad­di­tion­ally do not con­sume dairy, eggs and honey.

Peo­ple will be able to taste ve­gan burg­ers and cakes, and try on cloth­ing and cos­met­ics that are cru­elty-free.

The fes­ti­val will be run un­der the con­cept of “zero waste,” so vis­i­tors will use plates made of maize starch and re­turn them af­ter wash­ing them. Spe­cial dis­counts will be pro­vided for vis­i­tors who bring in their own multi-use plates and tum­blers.

There are sev­eral cul­tural events that are lined up at the fes­ti­val in­clud­ing artist per­for­mances, a doc­u­men­tary screen­ing, a yoga work­shop and lec­tures from ex­perts in dif­fer­ent pro­fes­sions.

There are is no en­trance fee but some of the pro­grams re­quire regis­tra­tion and charge a small fee.
