International Women’s Day lands on Friday, but Itaewon’s Lit Lounge is so jam-packed with events that it has decided to expand the occasion into a full weekend, with three days of events celebrating and centering on women.

It kicks off on Friday with the Ladies Who Lead panel talk, highlighting women who excel in their respective industries in Korea, offering hope and motivation to others.

The panel discussion and the following Q&A session will be facilitated by Aja Bailey. The panelists include chef Sarah Labensky, best-selling author of “On Cooking” and “On Baking”; Yepo Beauty cosmetics company co-founder Ky Reid and Miss Clark, a business and life consultant for people moving to Korea.

The entry fee is 10,000 won, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Seoul Metropolitan Women’s Protection Center. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the event begins at 9 p.m.

Saturday presents the After Glow party featuring female fire performers Sonja Gadés and Nell Fox. Both are from the United States, and each has at least 10 years of experience dancing with flames. The event will be hosted by DJ D.YANA. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the fire starts crackling at 10 p.m. Entry costs 10,000 won.

The final event on Sunday features a lineup of 12 female stand-up comics from around the world, presented by Dark De Gary Comedy Club.

The open mic-style event will be hosted by Alisha Feitosa, a comedian from Texas who has performed in the U.S., Korea and Singapore. “Although my style isn’t vulgar,” she remarked about her comedy, “my mom does not approve.”

The other women hitting the mic are Kristen Pimley, Fanoula Grekos, Sue, Kristen Fallon, Ziho, Jessica Lee, JL Murdoch, Amy Kim, Mary Yang, Kim Bo-eun, Seong-eun Jeong and Choi Ki-moon.

The comedy show starts at 7 p.m. and runs for two hours. Entry is free.

“Lit Lounge’s International Women’s Weekend will be full of encouragement, bonding, sisterhood and laughter,” organizers said in an online invitation. “Come join us as we reflect on yesterday’s struggles that paved the way for tomorrow’s victories!”
