Hana, KB listed as 2023 CDP Honors Club members
Hana Financial Group and KB Financial Group made the 2023 members list of the Carbon Management Honors Club compiled by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the two said Tuesday. Hana made the list for the fourth consecutive year.
The two said they were recognized for their outstanding governance structures, growth strategies and carbon-neutrality drives under the context of tackling climate change.
Hana outlined its carbon footprint reduction targets to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050 and has since been disclosing carbon data every year.
The principle is applied to Hana’s management of assets exposed to high-carbon emission industries.
“Hana making the list for four years straight is an indication of the group-wide commitment to advancing environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) management amid the growing importance of climate risk management within the country and abroad,” Hana Financial official said.
KB said the honor reflects the group’s continued efforts in reducing its carbon footprint, as illustrated by the KB Green Wave Campaign whereby group employees put a green lifestyle into practice as well as the expanded use of renewables including solar and geothermal as energy sources at the group’s affiliates.
“KB Financial will continue to fortify ESG management to better respond to climate change,” a KB Financial official said.
CDP, a U.K.-based global nonprofit, runs a carbon disclosure system to manage environmental impacts for investors, companies, cities, states and regions. Some 270 firms from around the world are on the list.
CDP’s annual report is among the most respected independent sustainability ranking systems, alongside the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI).
