Amir returns home from UK

KUWAIT, Nov 30, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the official delegation accompanyi­ng him returned home Friday evening from the UN where he paid an official visit.

Sheikh Sabah was received at the airport by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, senior Sheikhs, Deputy head of the National Guard Sheikh Mishal Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Ministers, Governors, senior state officials, and commanders of the army, police and national guard.

In recognitio­n of the great hospitalit­y and the warm welcome Queen Elizabeth II and the British government accorded His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah in his recent official visit to the United Kingdom, he has sent a number of cables of thanks on Friday to British officials.

Firstly, the Amir sent a cable of thanks to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in which he expressed his delight at his visit to her country with which Kuwait has enjoyed firm historical ties, wishing her and her nation continued progress and advancemen­t.

HH the Amir also sent a cable of thanks to British Prime Minister David Cameron, noting the warm welcome he and the official delegation with him received from the Minister and members of the British government. The Amir made mention of the fruitful results of his visit to Britain, which he said would contribute to boosting bilateral relations.

A similar cable of thanks echoing similar sentiments was also sent by the Amir to John Bercow, Speaker of the British House of Commons.

John Bercow, expressed deep appreciati­on to the Amir Sheikh Sabah for his visit to the headquarte­rs of the assembly and the House of Lords where he made historic speeches underlinin­g the deep-rooted and historic ties bounding London and Kuwait City.
