Petra chief on visit: Kuwait News Agency Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Duaij AlIbrahim Al-Sabah received on Saturday visiting Director General of the Jordanian news agency (PETRA) Faisal Al-Shabboul.
Al-Shabboul is currently visiting Kuwait in response to an invitation by the Ministry of Information on the occasion of the parliamentary elections.
Sheikh Mubarak and the director general of PETRA reviewed, during the meeting, issues that “concern the Arab media, means of promoting it, boosting cooperation among various Arab media organizations and challenges facing the media in general.” The talks touched on means for activating the KUNA-PETRA agreement stipulating exchange of expertise, news, information, organizing reciprocal visits and coordinating stances toward media-related issues.
Sheikh Mubarak accompanied the eminent guest in a tour of the news agency’s sections and departments to get acquainted with KUNA diverse services as well as coverage of the current parliamentary elections. Al-Babtain, in a statement to KUNA on Saturday, after taking part in inauguration of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in Vienna, last Monday, said the monarch is one of the top Arab leaders who “devote special attention to culture, out of the belief that its promotion constitutes basis for advancement of the Arab societies.” “We have been lagging behind other nations due to lack of interest by some of leaders in culture,” Al-Babtain added, also indicating at desire to establish cooperation between his foundation and the center.
