Staff threaten to sue minister over unfair promotions
New plan for foreign treatment soon
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 1: One hundred and thirty-three employees of the Ministry of Communications have threatened to sue Minister of Communications and acting Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Salem AlUtheina for what they call unfair promotions and transfers which took effect on Aug 14, 2012, reports AlSeyassah daily.
Several employees say they have served more than 25 years and have never been promoted while others who have served for 15 years have been promoted.
Meanwhile, the Director of Overseas Treatment Department Dr Mubarak Al-Ajmi has revealed that Minister of Health will soon announce plan the plan for overseas treatment, reports Al-Anba daily.
The minister said the treatment will be for elderly cancer patients and the issue has been discussed with heads of departments at Kuwait Cancer Control Center.
This step is aimed to identify the cases individually based on the method applied at National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) Hospital.
He added the personnel structure at the department which should have come into effect in 2009 will be applied. He pointed out the ministry is studying the possibility of linking all departments.
In another development, a national dairy company has allegedly disregarded the instructions of the Cooperative Societies Union on the prices of its products, reports AlKuwaitiah daily.
Sources revealed the company has ignored all the letters of the union. This has prompted the union to suspend all its dealings with the company until the issue is settled.
In an unrelated development, the General Department for Citizens Service Center announced the closure of its units on Friday and Saturday due to the parliamentary elections.
