Citizen, cousin assaulted by trio, shown gun

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: A citizen with his cousin filed an assault case against some three individual­s in Rumaithiya area.

The citizen and his cousin told policemen they were beaten and injured by three people due to a previous dispute, and added their assaulters had threatened them with firearm before fleeing the scene. Police are looking for the suspects.

A woman security officer from the Ministry of Interior filed a case against a Kuwaiti woman and reported she was assaulted while performing official duty at a polling center in Fahaheel area.

Security sources said the lady officer provided medical report to securityme­n in Fahaheel Police Station indicating bruises she suffered in various parts of the body due to beating. A case was registered and measures are in place to arrest the suspect.

A citizen was detained in a police station at the Ahmadi governorat­e for taking photos of his ballot paper, with the intention of voting for another candidate.

Security sources said one electoral committee member from Fifth Constituen­cy saw the citizen taking the photograph before casting the paper into the ballot box and ordered his immediate arrest for breaching election laws. Upon questionin­g, the citizen claimed he did not know the act was prohibited. He was referred to the concerned authority for necessary action. Security sources said traffic officers on patrol duty intercepte­d the reckless driver and issued a citation against him, but he tore the paper in front of the officer and tried to attack him when the officer asked the reason behind his action.

In the meantime, the officer called for backup and the culprit was arrested and referred to the concerned authoritie­s for humiliatin­g a public servant and attempted assault.
