Female employees accuse their bosses of harassment

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 24: MP Hisham AlBaghli was recently quoted as saying he has received several complaints from female employees who are accusing their senior officers of ‘harassment’, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to parliamentary sources several MPs have shown their intention to form a neutral committee which will look into sexual harassment cases filed by female employees.

The sources added some lawmakers have received over the past two weeks a number of complaints from female employees who were allegedly directly exposed to sexual harassment by their male colleagues and managers at their respective work places.

The sources noted, the “employees have demanded the formation of a neutral commission of inquiry provided none of the members are from the ministry to ensure impartial investigation.”

The sources added a Kuwaiti female employee working in an unidentified ministry was subjected to extortion and sexual harassment by her direct boss in an attempt to lure her. He told her that she would be given excellent performance estimation in the current year.

The female said most of the employees who have been sexually harassed preferred not to register cases against those who molested them for social motives, especially since some of them are married and are afraid of damaging their reputations.
