Hearing in withdrawal of TV channel’s licence on Dec 26
Juwaihel case adjourned to Jan 20
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 24: The Fasttrack Court will begin hearing on Dec 26 in the case filed by Al-Yawm Channel to stop the execution of Ministry of Information’s decision to withdraw the license of the channel.
The Minister of Information recently issued a decision to withdraw the license of the channel due to certain violations it committed as regards the appointment of a director for the channel.
Case
adjourned: The Misdemeanor Court adjourned until Jan 20 the case involving former MP Mohammad Al-Juwaihel who is alleged to have insulted Al-Mutair Tribe on Twitter.
The Public Prosecution charged him for misusing telephone and having in his possession illegal firearm, but the defendant denied all allegations and claims he has no Twitter account.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned until Feb 17 the lawsuit filed against Kuwait University teacher and blogger Fatmah Al-Matar for allegedly defaming His Highness the Amir. The witnesses are likely to be crossexamined in the next session. Also, the detention renewal judge released the woman on KD 2,000 bail bond.
Similarly, the Misdemeanor Court postponed to Feb 3 the case of 11 Bedouns charged last month for organizing public protest. The Public Prosecution charged the defendants for attacking security operatives during their civic duties. Hearing Jan 7: The Misdemeanor Court postponed until January 7, 2013 the hearing of a case filed by the Public Prosecution against former lawmaker Lawyer Osama Al- Munawer.
According to the case files, the Public Prosecution had referred AlMunawer to the court for allegedly questioning and abusing the prerogatives of HH the Amir.
The prosecution released him on KD 1,000 bail after interrogating him about the statements he made during a seminar organized by Mohammad Al-Khalifa in Jahra.
