Woman acquitted: The Criminal Court refrained from announcing the penalty against a Kuwaiti woman charged for possessing drugs for addiction purpose.

Attorney Mohammad Za’ar Al-Otaibi argued the inspection and arrest procedures against the defendant were illegal, besides the fact that elements of the crime were unavailabl­e. ‘No role in crime’: The Misdemeano­r Court acquitted an expatriate woman of playing a part in a swindling crime by sheltering her brother wanted by law for absconding one year imprisonme­nt term with hard labor.

The woman was acquitted when the only witness in the case told the court that allegation­s he had labeled against her earlier were inaccurate, indicating she wasn’t involved in the case.

According to the case file, the plaintiff was cheated after reaching a deal with the suspect to supply electrical appliances. The suspect is said to have collected money from the plaintiff and left the country.

Meanwhile, Attorney Horaa Al-Habib argued the testimony of the witness was sufficient, as he couldn’t prove her client played a part in the crime. Headlights stolen: An unknown individual stole the headlights of a Kuwaiti citi- zen’s vehicle in Qairawan recently.

According to security sources, when the Kuwaiti citizen left his house, he was shocked to find his vehicle without headlights.

He rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint against the unknown thief.

Officers from General Department of Criminal Evidences and securityme­n went to the location to examine the vehicle and lift fingerprin­ts. A case was registered and investigat­ions are ongoing to arrest the suspect. Youth injured: A Kuwaiti youth was seriously injured following a two-vehicle collision on the Sixth Ring Road opposite Amghara, reports Alam Alyawm daily. The youth has been admitted to the Jahra Hospital. Man in desert rescued: An elderly Saudi man suffering from diabetes called the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry when he lost his way and his car got ‘trapped’ in sifting sand, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, police searched the entire area for several hours but failed to find him. Police also lost contact with him because the battery of his cell phone went dead. He was finally located by a police chopper.
