hike: The Union of Cooperative Societies issued a circular on Sunday to a Kuwaiti dairy company, obligating it to sell its products for the prices of 2007 as it refused to renew its database after hiking the prices after 2007, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources.
They revealed that the company had ignored a letter sent by the union to update and renew its database so that the union was aware of any hike in the prices of its products in order to avoid violations.
They indicated that the union refused the hike of products’ prices by the company post 2007 and demanded to sell the products for prices of 2007.
The Chairman of the Union Abdulaziz Al-Samhan said the circular was issued after the company confirmed it did not increase its products’ prices since 2007, which was the reason why the union allowed them to hike the prices this year. Ex-minister slams boycotters: Former minister and former lawmaker Attorney Ali Al-Baghli says the boycotters of the recent parliamentary elections do not have the right to appeal the results of the elections legally, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
“Those who refused to practice their electoral right lack the disposition of a voter and thus have no right legally to appeal the elections of the parliament”, indicated AlBaghli.
He went on to say, “Such people lack entity to appeal the outcome of something in which they did not participate. In addition, they do not have the right to appeal on behalf of those who participated willingly in the elections as the latter only have the right to appeal to announce their will.”
He added, “As per Article 41 of law 35/1962, each voter has the right to demand for the nullification of the elections that took place in his constituency and this right is for the candidate.” Business lobby launches war: The business lobby, represented by Chamber of Commerce and Industry, wages fierce war against the government and the current National Assembly in an attempt to intimidate the two authorities to issuing popular decisions in favor of the majority of citizens, reports Al-Shahed daily.
A source said positive beginning and early cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities have been preventing misunderstanding and crises which once was the hallmark of previous parliaments. This development indicates that the government has accepted all recommendations favoring the low-income earners.
He disclosed both authorities have agreed on increasing the social and children allowance, in addition to support for retirees, jobless Kuwaiti women, and raising the housing loan and finding lasting solution to the citizens’ loans by canceling loans or its interests.
