Kuwait to empower women in all domains: Sheikha Latifa
ALGIERS, Feb 25, (KUNA): Chairwoman of Kuwait Government’s Women Affairs Committee, Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah, stated Monday that the Kuwaiti government is doing all in its power to empower Kuwaiti women and increase their contribution to the state development.
“Women empowerment is always one of the main objectives of the Kuwaiti government’s development, employment and strategic plans,” Sheikha Latifa said here at the opening session of the Fourth Arab Women Organizations Conference.
She pointed out that Kuwaiti government has also taken several measures to boost women’s share in national economy.
“The government is playing an important role in empowering women economically and removing all obstacles hindering their effective contribu- tion in the national economy and the execution of development plans,” Sheikha Latifa asserted.
She added that the government is providing women with all required training and financial aid to launch their own enterprises through HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah’s initiated KD 2 billion-fund for small and medium enterprises.
She boasted that the Kuwaiti women’s literacy rate is the highest in the Arab region and the Second highest on the international level.
Meanwhile, Sheikha Latifa called for the foundation of the special commission for Arab women rights to monitor the situation of the Arab women through field surveys and studies.
She underlined the need for an effective mechanism to review the Arab women status and to set urgent plans to tackle challenges facing them.
