The fresh healthcare agreement would certainly contribute to improving healthcare services to Kuwaiti students in the UK, the minister added.

At the behest of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti government spares no effort to make it very easy for Kuwaiti students in the UK to study hard and to complete their studies as their country expects them to return home soon in order to help in its national development, he said.

The minister voiced special thanks to Kuwaiti Ambassador in London Khaled Al-Duwaisan, Chief of the Health Office Dr Yaqoub Al-Tamar and Chief of the Cultural Office Mohammad Al-Hajri, for their great efforts to take care of Kuwaiti students in the UK.

The healthcare agreement will be effective as of March 1st and expires in late February 2014, and will cover 2,500 students and their families staying with them during their study period, he noted.

The AXA PPP healthcare company will provide general health insurance while Dunblane will provide tooth health services, natural childbirth, medications and eyeglasses, the minister said.

The UK companies will send representatives to meet Kuwaiti students to brief them on new health insurance services, and launch a fresh website explaining registration and general medical services, the minister pointed out.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Kuwaiti Ambassador to the UK Khaled Al-Duwaisan, Chief of the Health Office Yaqoub Al-Tamar and Chief of the Cultural Office Mohammad Al-Hajri and the health minister’s accompanying delegation.

The Chief of the Cultural Office hailed the new healthcare deal, asking Kuwaiti students studying here at their expense to seek registration for healthcare at the Cultural Office.

Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the agreement, he said: “The deal was the fruit of joint efforts exerted by all. This insurance will largely contribute to easing out the sufferings of students during their study period.”

He added that one of the key positive aspects of the fresh medical agreement is that Kuwaiti students studying here will have fast medical services.

For his part, the Chief of the Health Office said the one-year medical agreement will be subject to assessment by the Health Office to gauge the healthcare companies’ commitment to the provisions of the deal.

He urged all Kuwaiti students wising to have healthcare insurance to send their required data for registration at the British healthcare firms.
