KUWAIT CITY, Feb 25, (Agencies): The Foreign Ministry has been in contact with the government authoritie­s in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following the “tragic” death of a Kuwaiti student in the Emirate of Sharjah on Monday, a ministry official said.

Kuwaiti student Mubarak Mishal Mubarak was a “victim” of a “regrettabl­e incident” which caused his death early today.

The ministry, soon after it was informed of the incident, contacted the UAE authoritie­s concerned via the Consulate General and its Culture Office to know details of the incident and follow up the investigat­ions.

The source commended cooperatio­n shown by the UAE authoritie­s who expressed readiness to inform the officials in the Consulate General over developmen­ts of investigat­ion. Corpse found: The corpse of an unknown individual was discovered near Kubbar Island recently, says AlSeyassah.

Reportedly, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about a corpse near Kubbar Island, marine rescue team along with officers from Coastal Guard rushed to the location and referred the corpse to Forensics Department for autopsy.

Preliminar­y investigat­ions revealed that the victim had died due to drowning. A case was registered for investigat­ions.

The Public Relations Department of General Fire Department Lt Colonel Khalil Al-Amir commended the efforts taken by the rescue officers and said they are prepared to deal with all types of incidents and emergencie­s.
