Lawmakers send congrats on occasions of ‘National Days’
MP Fuzai withdraws grilling request against minister of finance
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26: Speaker of Parliament Ali AlRashed has sent his congratulations to the people of Kuwait on the occasion of the country’s National and Liberation Days while remembering the Kuwaiti martyrs who have laid down their lives defending the country and the people.
In a press statement, Al-Rashed recalled the national cohesion of Kuwaitis during the Iraqi invasion of the country. He prayed to God Almighty to protect the country from all kinds of unrest and instability and perpetuate peace and security under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed AlJaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed AlJaber Al-Sabah.
Several lawmakers have also sent congratulations to the Amir, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, the Parliament Speaker and ministers in addition to Kuwaitis and expatriates on the occasion of the National and Liberation days. They prayed to God to bestow on Kuwait everlasting peace, security and development.
MPAskar Al-Enezi explained after the liberation of Kuwait from the brutal invasion, Kuwait began to regain its position among Arab states and the countries of the region and the world.
Kuwait, he said, was able to establish regional and international status after His Highness the Amir assumed power “and this indicates the distinguished prestige and wisdom he enjoys among the leaders of the world.”
He added the celebrations to mark the national days strengthen the bonds of national unity and cohesion among citizens. He called on all spectrums of the Kuwaiti people to work for the country’s political, economic and social stability in the next phase.
MP Badr Al-Bathali said “The atmosphere of celebrations taking place in Kuwait strongly reflects the numerous aspects of democracy that prevail in Kuwait between the ruler and the people.”
He added, “This democracy has cre- ated a wide aspect in the political scene to express an opinion whether we agree with it or not.”
He pointed democracy is widely prevalent in Kuwait and a testimony of this is that the opposition and the government in clear terms highlighted the relationship between HH the Amir and the citizens regardless of their political orientations and inclinations as long as that serves the public interest.
He stated as a result of this special relationship between the ruler and the people enjoyed by Kuwait, a citizen has no choice but to be loyal to His Highness the Amir and the Crown Prince.
In another development, parliamentary sources disclosed MP Nawaf AlFuzai has agreed to withdraw his grilling request against the Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shamali but with two conditions.
First, the government should cooperate with the Parliament to practically resolve the issue of interests on loans of citizens to alleviate their sufferings, and two it must establish a committee to investigate the points he has mentioned in his grilling and the violations attributed to banks on the issue of the loans.
Sources pointed out the conditions put forward by Al-Fuzai are in response to the request made by his bloc — the Future Bloc — to withdraw his interpellation in compliance with the advice of the Parliament not to present any grilling request in the current legislative round and instead postpone them to the next round.
