Indian commits suicide

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26: A 35-year-old Indian man, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly ended his life by hanging himself with a rope tied to the ceiling fan in his room in downtown Kuwait City, reports Al-Anba daily.

The death was reported to the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior by an Asian man. Police rushed to the spot and found the corpse dangling from a rope.

The man’s remains have been referred to Forensics. According to the man’s roommate the victim was depressed and had talked of ending his life several times before. Bedoun hurt in fall: A 36-year-old Bedoun foreman who fell from a building under constructi­on in Mubarakiya has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Amiri Hospital, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

According to security sources the victim was checking on the work progress and he lost his balance and fell.

He sustained a fracture in the left thigh and deep cuts on several parts of the body. Duo held with drugs: Police have arrested two people — a Kuwaiti and a Sudanese — for possessing drugs and narcotic pills, reports Al-Anba daily.

They were stopped on suspicion by a police patrol on the King Abdulaziz Expressway.

After checking their car police found pieces of hashish and Tramadol drugs.

The contraband and the suspects have been referred to the General Department for Drug Control. Landmine found: Acting on informatio­n police patrols from the Ahmadi Security Directorat­e rushed to an unidentifi­ed location and cordoned off an area where a landmine was spotted by a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Shahed daily.

According to security sources the landmine is part of remnant of Iraqi ammunition which was left behind by the Iraqi forces following their defeat in Kuwait’s Liberation War.

It reportedly lay buried under the sand and surfaced due to winds shifting sand.

However, the find coincided with the national days celebratio­ns. Explosives experts combed the area but did not find more ordnance.
