KDA organises ‘Qualitynet Kozhikode Fest 2013’ in grand style
Event bids to strengthen ‘Karunyam Scheme’
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26: Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait organised ‘Qualitynet Kozhikode Fest 2013’ in grand style
Thousands were present at Integrated Indian School Auditorium, Abbasiya on 15th February 2013 to witness ‘Qualitynet Kozhikode Fest 2013’, marking the 3rd Anniversary of Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait.
The meeting held in connection with Kozhikode Fest 2013 was inaugurated by His Excellency Satish C Mehta, Ambassador of India to Kuwait by lighting the traditional lamp. Rajagopalan.E, Association President presided over the inaugural meeting. The Ambassador praised the association for the spectacular growth in membership and humanitarian activities carried out by the Association during the short period of 3 years since its inception. Association President touched upon the major contribution in the area of charity activities, intervention in social issues, arts and cultural activities, etc. that helped Kozhikode District Association to grow into a frontline organization in Kuwait. General Convenor Shaji. K.V welcomed the gathering. Abdul Najeeb.T.K, General Secretary spoke on the various activities of the Association.
Malayil Moosakoya, veteran journalist and educationist was hon- oured on the occasion for his contributions to the society. Abdulla Kollarath gave a vivid description of the social contribution made by Malayil Moosakoya. Ashraf Aydeed adorned Moosakoya with ‘ponnada’ and the ambassador presented a memento to Moosakoya. Shabeer Mandoly, Patron of the Association and Asma Abdulla, Mahilavedi President offered felicitations. Santhakumar Manathanath, Treasurer expressed the vote of thanks.
Unforgettable
The motto of Kozhikode Fest 2013 was to strengthen ‘ Karunyam Scheme’ — a scheme that aims to help the underprivileged section of Kozhikode in treatment of severe diseases like cancer, kidney ailments, heart ailments, etc.
The musical programme organized as a part of Kozhikode Fest 2013 provided unforgettable moments to all who were present on the occasion. Unni Menon, the reputed South Indian playback singer started with the melodious song ‘Oru Chempaneer Pooviruthu’ that has the rare honour of Unni Menon as a singer, composer, and actor in that role in the film. He also sang some famous numbers including ‘Puthu vellai mazhai’ composed by A.R. Rahman for Roja and ‘Mazhaneerthullikal’ in the film ‘Beautiful’ which were greeted by thunderous applause by the crowd.
Mrs Sajla Saleem (Kairali TV Patturumal and Asianet TV Mailanchi fame sang Arabic and Hindi songs besides mappila songs that were enjoyed by the crowd a lot. Comedy show by Kalabhavan Jayakumar, Devaraj (Mazhavil fame), Kalabhavan Sudheesh, Dileep Kottayam provided moments of laughter to the audi- ence.
Praseetha stole the heart of everybody with her spectacular performance. The folksinger from Kerala mesmerised the crowd with her fantastic performance and the crowd were on their feet clapping and dancing to the tunes of Praseetha. The memories of her great performance will definitely last for a long time in the minds of the viewers.
Souvenir
The souvenir titled ‘Ente Kozhikode’ published to commemorate the third anniversary of Association was released by Regi Bhaskar, Managing Director of Mastervision and Honorary member of the Association by handing over first copy of the souvenir to representative of Qualitynet, Ahmed Al Eneze of Qualitynet, title sponsor of the event.
The event was attended by many distinguished personalities from different walks of life in Kuwait. Varghese Puthukkulangara, Sharafudheen Kanneth, Siddique Valiyakath, Vijayan Karayil, Hamsa Payyannur, Thomas Panicker, Iqbal Kuttamangalam, S.A.Labba, Samkutty Thomas, Chessil Ramapuram, Raghunathan Nair, Babuji Bathery, Prasad Padmanabhan, Harish Tripunithura, Afsal Khan, Arif (I Black), Jojin, Dileesh, Ismail Payyoli, Sunoj Nambiar, Anil Keloth Girish Ottappalam, Sathar Kunnil, Dileep Naderi, Jaison Joseph, were amongst the prominent personalities who attended the function.
Devraj and Noura Nassim compered the programme. Prizes to raffle coupon winners were distributed on the occasion.
The grand success of ‘Qualitynet Kozhikode Fest 2013’ added another feather to the crown of Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait. Association thanked all those who helped to make Kozhikode Fest 2013 an unforgettable experience.
