KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27: Several notable personalities from Kuwait and other Arab countries have said unity exhibited by Kuwaitis during the Liberation War surprised the entire world, as they saw Kuwaitis working in harmony to ensure the country was liberated at all cost, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Director General of Hadi Clinic Fahad Yousef Al-Mailam regarded memory of the liberation as opportunity to consolidate loyalty and patriotism. He called for Kuwaitis to jettison sectarianism and sectionalism because citizens have always remained united in mutual love.

He indicated there is no difference between Sunni and Shiite, and rural or urban dwellers, because everybody is a Kuwaiti and sticks to national unity, with Kuwait as crown on their heads.

He congratulated HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and the entire Kuwait on the National Day festivities.

In his comment, Counselor Jamal Juma applauded laudable steps the Kuwait Foreign Affairs Ministry exerted during Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait.

He is delighted with the stance Kuwaitis adopted at the period, saying “they stood firm in a fantastic manner and beat the imagination of their enemies and friends alike”, stressing “this country is small in size but large in decision making.”

According to Dr Zainab Al-Ali, the international community stood firm by Kuwait’s rights due to the wise leadership of political leaders. She noted the government had embarked on stable foreign policy led by the diplomatic veteran His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Sabah while he was the Foreign Affairs Minister.

“The Amir exerts great efforts to ensure diplomatic resolution of disputes among various countries, while bridging the gaps in their viewpoints. As a result, Kuwait has become a country without foes, besides being extremely helpful to many other countries in terms of economic and humanitarian issues through the Kuwait Development Fund.”
