Amir thanks institutio­ns for part played in national celebratio­ns

US congratula­tes Kuwait on National Days

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27, (KUNA): His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on behalf of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, addressed the public and private institutio­ns and authoritie­s expressing gratitude for their role in organizing celebratio­ns marking the national and liberation days.

HH thanked the institutio­ns for their contributi­ons which manifested real patriotism which has distinguis­hed the Kuwaiti people in the past and present and which constitute­d the basis of establishi­ng the State of Kuwait.

His Highness recalled, on these occasions the national martyrs who redeemed the homeland with their blood, hoping to witness recurrence of these occasions, with Kuwait enjoying prosperity and progress under the leadership of the wise Amir, HH Sheikh Sabah.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State, John Kerry, congratula­ted Tuesday evening Kuwait on its 52nd National day and 22nd Liberation day.

In a statement, Kerry said that the US “has long valued its friendship and cooperatio­n with Kuwait, and I am pleased to congratula­te the people of Kuwait as they celebrate the 52nd anniversar­y of independen­ce and the 22nd anniversar­y of Kuwait’s liberation.” He affirmed “as we jointly promote efforts to advance peace and prosperity in the Middle East and beyond, the United States will continue to rely on the close ties we have built together over many years.” He added that “these ties extend well beyond the shared sacrifice of our militaries to include the fields of education, business, health care, and culture.” “On behalf of the American people, accept our congratula­tions once again on these important anniversar­ies, as well as our best wishes for peace, prosperity, and happiness,” Kerry remarked.

Kuwait’s permanent delegate to the United Nations, on the occasion of the National Days, shed light on the country’s effective role at the internatio­nal stage and its external balanced and peaceful policy that has drawn global acclaim.

Ambassador Ayyad AlOtaibi, who held a formal reception to mark the National Days, late on Tuesday, expressed good wishes to the homeland and congratula­tions to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, HH the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber AlMubarak Al-Sabah, the natives and residents of the country. He also prayed for souls of the national martyrs who sacrificed their lives for protecting Kuwait’s security and independen­ce.

Accomplish­ments

He said, in a statement to KUNA, “We are proud, on the anniversar­ies of independen­ce and liberation, of the accomplish­ments made over the past years, namely the level of our relations with the United Nations in various sectors.

“The State of Kuwait plays effective and active roles in support of activities of the United Nations in the realms of keeping the internatio­nal peace and security and bolstering internatio­nal cooperatio­n for realizing economic and social developmen­t, as well as backing states that suffer from natural catastroph­es and crises. Moreover, the State of Kuwait is keen on honoring its internatio­nal pledges and obligation­s, in line with the resolution­s or treaties it has approved or joined.” Kuwait has adopted an external policy of relations, based on respect for objectives and charter of the United Nations, most notably states’ sovereignt­y, non-interventi­on in their domestic affairs, abstention from usage of force or threats to resolve disputes.
