Arab interior ministers council calls to promote civil protection
‘Need to provide technical elements, qualified management’
RIYADH, Feb 27, (KUNA): Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, Dr Mohammed Ali Kuman on Wednesday called on the competent authorities in the Arab countries to promote and strengthen the civil protection (civil defense) through the provision of technical elements and qualified management.
Kuman told a news briefing here on the occasion of celebration of Arab States of the International Day of Civil Protection, which falls on the first of the month of March of each year to ensure the overall means and modern technologies that help civil defense organizations to perform their tasks to the fullest and to honor the employees of these devices for their sacrifices and dedication.
He stressed that the protection, security and safety of persons and property and wealth is a shared responsibility of everyone from government institutions, private sector and civil society bodies, stressing the importance of civil society organizations in the civil protection sector in raising the level of public awareness and a sense of social security.
He pointed to the attention attached by the Council of Arab Interior Ministers to the issue of civil society organizations and their role in the sector of civil protection (civil defense), stemming from its principles and commitment to work to promote the concept of community partnership between the various institutions and bodies in order to ensure the safety and well-being, stability and tranquility of the Arab citizen.
